Hume Bank announces Board Chair transition

Hume Bank has announced a transition in the leadership of its Board, with Kerry Grigg stepping down as Chair and concluding her service as a Director at the end of October.

Kerry has served on the Hume Bank Board for more than nine years and has made a significant contribution to the Bank throughout that time, including through her leadership as Chair.

With strong roots and connections to Albury-Wodonga, Kerry has brought to her role an unwavering commitment to the region, its communities and people, and to the important role Hume Bank plays as a customer-owned bank.

Throughout her tenure, Kerry has helped guide Hume through an important period in its development. This included leading the Board through Hume Bank’s first merger, with Geelong Bank, a significant milestone that has broadened Hume’s reach and positioned the Bank for further growth and an even greater capacity to serve its members and communities.

Hume Bank’s Board has a policy of renewal after nine years of service. During the Bank’s period of CEO transition, the Board asked Kerry to continue beyond her nine-year anniversary to provide continuity and stability. The Board greatly appreciates Kerry agreeing to remain during this period and respects her decision, as the Bank approaches its AGM, that this is the right time to conclude her service.

Kerry said “It has been a privilege to serve Hume Bank and our members for more than nine years. I am incredibly proud of what Hume has achieved, including our merger with Geelong Bank, and I leave confident that Hume is well positioned to continue growing while remaining true to its purpose of serving its members and communities.”

The Board has elected Tina Wyer as Chair while it undertakes its Chair succession process. Tina joined the Hume Bank Board in August 2022 and brings over 25 years of international financial services experience spanning finance, audit, risk, technology and digital transformation. A Chartered Accountant who grew up in Wodonga, Tina maintains strong family and community connections to the region. Tina brings valuable knowledge of Hume Bank and will provide continuity of Board leadership during this transition.

On behalf of the Board and Hume Bank, Tina thanked Kerry for her leadership, counsel and commitment over more than nine years.

Following recent changes to the Reserve Bank of Australia cash rate and market conditions, we’re updating our interest rates on selected lending and savings products.

What’s changing

Variable home loans
Effective Wednesday, 14 October 2026, variable interest rates across our lending products will increase by 0.25% p.a. This change applies to applicable variable owner-occupied and investment home loans. If this change impacts your home loan, we’ll send you written confirmation by mail outlining your new interest rate and minimum monthly repayment amount.

Why we review our rates

As a customer-owned bank, we regularly review interest rates to reflect changes in the RBA cash rate, funding costs, and broader market conditions. Our aim is to do this with fairness and transparency, balancing competitive returns for savers with sustainable, responsible lending for borrowers, while keeping our customers fully informed so they can plan ahead with confidence.

As part of the merger between Geelong Bank and Hume Bank, we've expanded the range of lending options available to Geelong Bank customers.

Geelong Bank no longer offers lending products directly. Instead, home loans, car loans and personal loans are now offered through Hume Bank, providing access to more choice and flexibility while continuing the trusted support you know.

Importantly, your everyday banking remains the same. Savings accounts, transaction accounts, term deposits and day-to-day banking services continue to be available through Geelong Bank.

We are aware of scammers posing as Geelong Bank staff requesting access to personal information.

Scammers can make their calls and messages to appear like they are coming from Geelong Bank. These scammers may claim your account or card has been compromised and they are trying to help you.

How to protect yourself

Geelong Bank will NEVER ask you for your passwords, full card number, PIN or One-Time Password over email or the phone. Never give out this information to anyone.

We encourage you to Stop. Check. Protect. If you are unsure about a phone call hang up immediately and call us directly. Never click on links in unexpected text messages.
