Geelong Bank and Hume Bank stronger together from 1 May

Following a resounding show of support from Geelong Bank members - with 96% voting in favour of the proposal - APRA has approved all merger documentation and cleared the way for Geelong Bank to merge with Hume Bank on 1 May 2026.

Over the past 10 months, the Geelong Bank team has worked closely with Hume Bank to plan for a smooth transition of all areas of our business, including staff, processes and systems. We are committed to a positive adjustment for our team, seamless service for customers and a solid foundation for future growth and scalability.

Will you see changes straight away?

Immediately after the merger, you can continue using your Geelong Bank services as you usually would. The only change you may see straight away is a reduction in some fees and charges. For a detailed list of fees and charges that will be reduced, please read our Member Information Document.

What will change?

In time, Geelong Bank members will have more choice with access to Hume Bank’s physical and digital credit cards, business accounts, bank guarantees, bridging finance, line of credit loans and insurance products.

On a larger scale, the merged entity will have an increased capacity to invest. This will provide greater resilience against fraud and scams, and deliver more value and product innovation for members in the future.

When will you see changes?

We anticipate that Geelong Bank members will be able to access Hume Bank products and services following an integration period of 6 to 12 months.
