Identifying Members

Each person joining Geelong Bank is required to purchase a share at $10 which entitles you to vote at our Annual General Meeting. Your share is fully refundable should you close your membership with Geelong Bank. Profits are returned to Members through our products and services.

Financial institutions are required to identify members when they open a new savings, investment or loan account or become a signatory to an account. This procedure will occur once only and will involve verifying your full name, date of birth and residential address.

Identification is legislated under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing Act 2006 (Cth), which is designed to help prevent people from using the financial system for tax evasion, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Geelong Bank supports this Australia-wide effort to fight crime and will do everything it can to make the process as smooth as possible for members.
